ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE 2023 PERRY COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE COMMUNITY EXCELLENCE AWARDS:
Several of you have asked me about the Chamber Award nominations and voting. We originally said we would have those to the public by the day after Christmas. This did not happen due to several factors, but primarily the following three reasons:
- We are making changes to the voting process, transferring to a new system. This will hopefully increase security and ensure a smoother process for myself, my board, and the nominees.
- I am making a change to the way I collect autobiographical information from the nominees. In years past, we have asked each one to provide information about themselves and their accomplishments in their own words. I realize that many people are uncomfortable "tooting their own horn," so to speak, or quite simply have to work to find time to get this done. I'm going to streamline the process by providing a simple form for nominees to fill out. This will hopefully take some of the stress out of being nominated, and make it more of the honor it is intended to be rather than a chore.
- Quite simply, I have taken some time over the holidays to spend time with my family, regroup, and recharge before going full steam ahead with the awards and several other major projects on the horizon.
WITH ALL THAT SAID, WE WILL HAVE THE BALLOTS OUT NEXT TUESDAY, JANUARY 2ND, WHEN WE RESUME NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS. I WILL CONTACT ALL NOMINEES AT THAT TIME. WE WILL VOTE UNTIL ON OR AROUND THE 10TH, AND ANNOUNCE THE WINNERS AT THE BANQUET HELD AT LINDEN VALLEY CONFERENCE CENTER ON JANUARY 25TH AT 6 P.M.
