Woman of the Year Nominee: Alycia Rosson

Alycia Rosson was born and raised in Perry County. She has been happily married to Bart Rosson for the last 13 years, and they have been blessed with two children, Levi and Adelyn. They are the lights of her life, and the reason she is so committed to helping others.

Alycia has always desired to help others in some way. In high school, she began her nursing career a Certified Nurse’s Aide. She loved being around and doing for others, especially when they could not do for themselves. Alycia went on to obtain her LPN degree, and worked at Perry County Nursing Home as a charge nurse for the next 8 years. In 2015, she left that career to help her husband run their business, Redline Automotive. She was able to meet a lot of people and made lifelong friends while there, but she missed the “helping people” part of her job.

An opportunity presented itself, and she took the leap to start a new career as the Perry County Director of 911. She started in 2019 and continues this job currently. Alycia says, “It is a very rewarding job not only to provide emergency services to our community but also to get to work with a group of people who also have committed their lives to helping others. It is truly an amazing experience.”

“In the Fall of this past year, I decided I still missed the hands-on aspect of helping others and didn’t want to lose the option to nurse legally in the state of TN if I was ever needed, so I began working with The Walk-in Medical Clinic a few weekends a month. It has also been a wonderful experience that I plan to continue as long as they will let me.”

“Aside from my career, and the part where my kids play the greatest role, is through them I have been exposed to a lot of children in this county. Unfortunately, I have learned that not all situations are the same or ideal. Not all children have support, not just financially but emotionally. I do not have any awards and have not started any programs that I can list on here. But what I do have Is priceless experience in working closely with kids, specifically teenagers. I have been let in on some of their darkest moments and have been able to hopefully provide some type of comfort for them knowing that they have someone in their corner. I am often involved in football in some way. This is because this program has opened doors for so many children to become a part of a family, something many of them know nothing about prior to this experience.”
